Galini, also known as Achlia, is situated 15 km east of Ierapetra, on the outskirts of the Schinokapsalo community. It is a small holiday village with a lovely organized beach with rough sand and clear blue waters. There are tamarisk trees offering shade, whereas the sea is calm even when the summer winds blow.
The temple of Aghii Anargyri towers above the cliffs of the sea. The steep Kakoskalos beach is a few meters to the west. Vertical cliffs with cobbled rocks and pine trees fall abruptly into the sea, creating a truly unique setting.
However, Apart from the beaches, it is worth taking a walk in the pine-covered Achlia Gorge that ends at the beach. In the winter months, the waters that spring from the root of Thrypti create a river that enters the gorge forming along its course several waterfalls of unique beauty which fall from a height of 5-8 m.
Since the sandstone walls are not very narrow, the crossing of the canyon and the access to all the waterfalls is relatively easy from the sides and no rope is needed.
