Myrtos is a picturesque coastal village situated 13 km west of Ierapetra just outside the fertile valley of Kryopotamos. It has not evolved much in recent years, so fortunately its traditional style has not been altered.

The absolute tranquillity and the laced beaches of Myrtos, with their small gray pebbles that do not stick to the feet, have attracted permanent holidaymakers. The beach extends over a wide area and is mostly preferred for a quiet family holiday.

Not far from Myrtos, on two steep hills, there are traces of two Minoan settlements, Fournou Korifi, and Pyrgos. Furthermore, the Archaeological-Folk Museum of Myrtos is located next to the old church of Agios Antonios.
