We find the site of Avlaki at the west end of the long Chatzivolakas Beach on the island of Chryssi. The beach here has a rock bottom, as do most of the island’s beaches. At the end of the beach, there is the second small port of the island in the site of Spilios and the only house in all of Chrysi, as it was built in the middle of the 20th century. It was named after an old house built inside the rock.
The old salt pan, which turns into a pond in the winter months, is next to the house. Very close to Spilios there is the church of Agios Nikolaos, many wells with brackish water which gave life to the crops that grew here in the past, ancient tombs and traces of buildings have been revealed which were probably facilities for the processing of porphyra. In the harbor, we can see traces of an ancient dock which was probably the port of the ancient settlement.
