The thousands of visitors who arrive daily by boat from Ierapetra to Chryssi mostly enjoy swimming at the beach of Belegrina or Chrysi Akti. Clear blue waters, white sand with pink shades from the thousands of broken shells, and the junipers that hold the sand with their huge roots are the surroundings that make anyone forget all of their problems.
The island is accessible by boat from Ierapetra, and the trip lasts around 50 minutes. Boats stop at the beach, and swimmers swim ashore. The collection of shellfish, sand, and any other substance found on the island is strictly forbidden, while great care must be taken not to break the branches of protected juniper trees. The beach is not sandy since it has a rock bottom at first. However, after a few meters, the rock changes to sand.
