We find the old salt pan where salt was produced in the past next to the unique house in Gaidouronisi of Ierapetra district, in Spilios.

In winter, the place becomes a small lake with brackish waters attracting mostly migratory birds.

This pond is not the only one on the island as a smaller one is formed at the site of Kaki Aliki, near Vagkes Beach on the eastern part of the island.
