Ierapetra is the largest city in population in the prefecture of Lasithi and the fourth largest in Crete, seat of the community of the same name and the municipality of the same name. It is located 95 kilometers southeast of Heraklion, 242 kilometers from Chania and 36 kilometers south of Agios Nikolaos.
In the last decade it has been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Crete and a pole of attraction for domestic and foreign tourists because of its award-winning beaches (2nd European Beach Award). The intense nightlife starts from the rakadikas of the beach and ends in the bars in the narrow streets of the city. In the summer months, the cultural events “Kyrveia” take place, with plenty of concerts and theater performances.
